Wi-Fi QR Code Generator (WPA/WPA2/WPA3)
Make a scannable QR code that joins your network.
About this tool
Modern phones join a Wi-Fi network when they scan a QR code that encodes the network details in the standard WIFI: URI format. This builder creates that code from your SSID, password, and security type — print it for guests or a café and no one has to type a long password again.
The QR code is drawn entirely in your browser; your network password is never sent anywhere. Supports WPA/WPA2/WPA3, legacy WEP, open networks, and hidden SSIDs.
Like everything on encrypt.tools, this runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is transmitted or stored.
Frequently asked questions about Wi-Fi QR Builder
How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?+
It encodes a short text string in the WIFI: URI format containing your network name, security type, and password. Phone cameras recognize this format and offer to join the network directly — no app needed on iOS 11+ and Android 10+.
Is it safe to make a QR code with my Wi-Fi password?+
The code is generated in your browser and never uploaded. The resulting QR image does contain your password in plain form, though, so share or print it only where you'd be comfortable sharing the password itself.
Does this work with WPA3 and hidden networks?+
Yes. Select WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for modern networks (they share the same QR format), and check 'Hidden network' if your SSID isn't broadcast. WEP and open networks are also supported.
